Yet another free online dating site: This one is called mingle2 and has certainly gained in popularity over the past few years.

So we now have:

Plentyoffish.com

Okcupid.com

Oasisactive.com

And mingle2.com

Because they are free you might as well signup with all of them and create slightly different profiles in each with different profile photos and see which one works the best. Just get your name out there.

Mingle2 sign up is no different to any other dating site registration. It is one of the 100% free online dating sites which are driven by ad revenue so you might have to jump through some hoops when using the site.

Mingle2 is not like a matchmaker like eHarmony but rather a search profile based dating site. Mingle2 can suggest local singles that are female but thats as far as it gets. You are going to need to know which mingle2 user type you are looking for and filter based on your preferences.

Mingle2 Bulk approach: You create a generic introduction email about yourself. You then crudely filter based on what your looking for and send the same email to each match.

Mingle2 Personal approach: You carefully filter each single to your exact specifications and carefully read their profile noting hobbies and obvious passions. You then craft a careful email indicating why you think you would be a good match. Etc

Free dating sites tend to attract the first bulk approach where you can just send out a ton of emails and get back a few responses.

Positives of Mingle2

Mingle2 allows you to add a single to chat, they then accept you and you can get to know each other.
One great thing about mingle2 that sets them apart from rivals such as plentyoffish is that they promise to strictly screen singles for quality.

If you check their site stats you fill find a strong trend toward US traffic. This is a good sign that there are not random singles emailing you from other countries. It is within mingle2’s best interests to make the site 100% safe and secure. Any bad behaviour that goes on gets monitored and the culprit kicked.

In todays open market where users have the ability to cripple a sites popularity through social media it is all the more important to keep dating sites clean. Mingle2 try to keep up with this tough task where their competitors fail.

You will notice when you enter the site that it just feels a friendlier safer site than e.g. plentyoffish.com

Like most free dating sites you are well within your rights to report or block a users from contacting you without any reason. It’s up to mingle2 staff to do the rest.
There are some useful automated screening features within mingle2 such as no empty profile descriptions are allowed or any incomplete profiles listed live.

If you know who you want to attract and chat to you can set up auto message filters so only users of specific age and gender etc can email you.

Active message forums (more than six million messages to date and counting)

Forum looks cool:

Not sure about the colour orange but they are very active.

Negatives of Mingle2

Mingle2 is certainly not the giant dating site that plentyoffish or eHarmony is.

It’s quick easy and safe within reason but the search results will bring up some sparse listings if you are not in the main cities. Sites like mingle2 are big but could be based on a large user following. A site is rated on the number of compatible matches it can provide and if you only have 15 singles in your area it’s hardly going to be a dynamic dating experience.

I think mingle2 also over does it on the ads with long rectangles down the side catching your attention. Some of the text ads are hard to distinguish from the navigation links.

Mingle 2 takes the social media style angle to online dating which means the profile screening is based more on attractiveness of photo rather than quality of profile information. Some members say that the profile information fields are to general without a lot of description and individuality which makes accurate matching hard.

Vacant help section

A very useful stat to know about a profile is it’s activity. If you know when a single was last active you can figure out if emailing them is going to be worth it. Mingle2 seems to be missing this useful piece of information.

Within mingle2 you are able to upgrade your profile photo so that it is shown first in search results. This is another monetisation strategy from minge2, only problem is you tend to see the same profiles over and over which takes away from the user experience.

All the basic features of a quality dating site are their in mingle2.com
Great interface with nice looking graphics

Friendly safe environment

Perhaps to many ads and not enough users but you will have to decide for yourself.

Mingle doesn’t seem to be trending toward any specific gender but is mostly full of 18-24 year olds according to

http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/mingle2.com#

So it’s predominantly a social media site for younger daters with the intent of relationships via photo sharing and viewing.

So mingle2 despite the cons is by all appearances a great dating site! Super active forums inside a safe and clean environment leading towards quick flings rather than long term relationships. Predominantly for the younger daters or though the older daters are growing in number.

That’s what attracts all the old perverts, the fact much younger people are on it. Just need to get rid of those 40 year olds who flirt with the 20 somethings.
