Metrodate directs its members to its local site depending on the location that the website servers detect from their visitors. The first pieces of information that MetroDate request is their gender/sexual orientation, age (they provide pre-segmented age groups)  and location. It will then next ask for an email and password to be used for your login.

Once these are provided, they will assign you a tacky username like CoolDudeInBrisbane143, you have the option to change this though. At this point, they will also give you the option to link your Facebook profile to save you some time from filling out too many fields.

After this, it will ask for your profile information starting with physical attributes and lifestyle preferences as well as education, religion, profession, and ethnicity — all mandatory.

The next step is to fill out a couple information necessary to make a match — pretty much the same info as you’ve provided about yourself. Age, lifestyle preferences, physical attributes… the whole nine yards. This part is optional though — you can just tick does not matter to each of them, this allows you to have more selection.

Clicking continue will then bring you to a page that asks members to tell more about themselves in open-text fields. From a short headline to other interesting bits of information about you like pets, favorite movies, and other random deets.

Finally, you will be asked to upload a profile photo and you’ll be given access to the site. A welcome email will also be sent to you with a validation code to ensure your identity.

Navigation

Once you’ve successfully registered and verified your profile, you will end up in the site’s member homepage. It will show your first few matches, a link to completing your profile, as well as a couple of ads.

At the top portion is the site menu. The first tab is Home with a drop-down that links to About Metrodate (which gives a Site Map/Summary of sorts), Success Stories (testimonials from members who found a match/love through Metrodate), and Account Information (where you can modify your member details, Facebook link, and notifications).

My Profile lets you view your profile as how others see it and modify it. Metrodate also allows members to record video and audio profiles through the profile tab.

The People tab is where you can search for members and potential matches. There are Quick and Advanced Search Results that allows members to refine the search using different settings or filters. This section is also where you may view who’s online, the people you’re flirting with and those you’ve tagged as your favorites.

The Mailbox tab is where your personal communications reside.

Metrodate Chat contains public chatrooms where you can interact with more people. The Chatroom is only available to members who’ve used the site for 2 days with complete profiles and photos.

The City Guide tab lets you access local events and restaurants, as well as offers to trips, cruises and other romantic ideas for dates.

The last link is the Help tab which provides FAQs, personalized advice, dating, and safety tips to members too.

Bottomline

The fact that all the features of Metrodate can be used even with a free membership is amazing. It can also be quite problematic as everyone can just easily message you.

Lots of members, free to use, easy to navigate, and seemingly well-maintained. There’s also that added features of video and audio profile that provides an extra layer of verification as fake members tend to be unable to provide a video or audio content of themselves.

Metrodate is a decent and straightforward place to take your chance on romance or hooking up. Highly recommended – try it!
