Speed Date Review: Speed Date is an online dating site designed to work much like speed dating. You’ll view profiles one at a time, similar to going on a speed date.
To sign up for Speed Date, you’ll need to enter your gender and sexual orientation, and location. Then, you will enter your basic information and lifestyle habits. Choose a headline and write a short essay about yourself. You’ll also need to upload a photo.
Next, you’ll see a page of matches. These matches are photos. No other information is given. Speed Date claims that these matches help them make better matches for you.
You can view people by clicking on the Match tab or clicking search. It’s set to default search settings, but you can change them by selecting edit.
Instead of showing you pages of profiles, you’ll see them one at a time. You’ll have the option of sending a speed flirt, wink, adding them to your favorites list, or sending them a message, all from the profile page.
Profiles here are very basic. However, it does make it easy to see the basic information, if the other member chooses to provide it. Marital status, smoking and drinking habits, height, sexual orientation, and a short about me and who I am section are all you will find on the most detailed profiles.
The site’s premium membership is a bit confusing. It seems that you can send messages to members with a basic membership. I tried sending a message with a free account, and it went through.
However, the benefits of being a paid member are:
- Contact all members
- Message members who add you
- See who viewed you
- See who wants to chat with you
- Come up first in search results
I suspect that coming up first in the search results and being able to see who has viewed and added you make it easier to make connections on this site. However, if you are on a budget, the site also seems perfectly functional for free. Or almost free.
Verifying your profile will also put you in the top of the search results, and put a verified badge on your profile. It also opens your inbox, which oddly enough, isn’t mentioned in the membership benefits. Until you open your inbox, you won’t be able to view any incoming messages.
This is the only thing I found shady about the site. You have to pay $0.99 to verify your profile, but it doesn’t seem to actually verify anything. Instead, it makes you look more credible for less than a dollar.
Speed Date Review: Bottom Line
Speed Date is an easy to use site. It’s a good option for those looking for a no frills site. The way the profiles are presented one at a time also helps it live up to its namesake, because it is reminiscent of speed dating.
Hope you found our Speed Date Review useful.
